We could go on. The point is that the App Store, which is supposed to protect users from deception, doesn’t seem to be doing a great job at that. There’s a lot of nonsense offered inside the walled garden.

Let's have a look at the deceptive advertising that surrounds the article about deceptive apps on the appstore...

Oh look, some adverts for the usual snake oil utility software.

Ooh lovely, that Free PPI check scam where they offer to fill out forms for you, forms you can download and fill out yourself for free, in return of course for some of your refunded PPI cash.

Oh and the usual scam click bait crap above it.

so many sites have that stuff now don't they, even msn, and i still end up reading "news" stories I don't care about cos they're there and I open IE at work just for salesforce :(

but the article does have a point, the almighty "protective" Apple isn't as great as its zealots may have you believe ;)

btw you don't get a lot of that crap if you use adblockplus :)

There was that thing a couple of weeks ago where Guido Fawkes (right wing blogger) put a negative article on his site criticising The Guardian website for allowing extreme porn ads to appear on it's page, as shown by his own screenshot. HOWEVER, what he didn't seem to understand was that these were actually contextual ads served up to his computer presumably based on HIS OWN BROWSING HISTORY. Lolz.

Slightly NSFW (pixelated naughty bits)

Be also aware of FACEEOOK;S sponsered adverts on the RHS of the page showing a well known face with a deceiving caption, for exampe one of the latest is Prince charles face with a caption goodbye at 67, which when you click to find out more, can put you onto a questionable website.
