Give AI a minute and it can sound like you, reminded of the Terminator anyone?

The Montreal-based startup, Lyrebird, is making huge progress in speech synthesis technology. In other words, their algorithms are getting good at imitating people.

It’s easy for the average person to copy the voice of Liam Neeson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Clint Eastwood. They have easy catch phrases that you can imitate. But, Lyrebird doesn’t imitate, it learns.

Using just one minute of voice recording data, their AI can pick up on all the idiosyncrasies that make a voice unique. Apparently, there’s enough DNA data in that one minute to create a representative style of the speaker.

Just wait till A.I hits the telephone.

Tried to get through to TV licensing yesterday, had three attempts to get through to a human operator by their maze of multiple button choices, that did not have my question I wanted to talk about regarding my Daughters residence.

Even not answering button choices and waiting,  put me back to the start of the button choice loop.

Eventually I was hitting buttons greater than 5, as there was only 5 choices max in each loop, and an automated voice came on and said 'I will put you through to an operator'.

At last, Phew! Must have realised my frustration.

It can only get worse with A.I.

Google has AI which is better at making new AI than Google:

It's starting! Only a matter of days now before Bandi gets to tell us all he told us so!

This won't help matters.

Despite the NSA confirming the existence of Skynet, we all should be grateful that technology has not yet advanced to the stage where a liquid metal T-1000 terminator can shape-shift its way into your home and demand to see John Connor.

But scientists in China are making a solid effort make a less sinister version of this scenario at reality, by creating liquid metal droplets that could one day make "self-powered liquid metal machines" a real possibility.

Google matches up adverts shown to its users with their credit card purchases:
https://consumerist.com/2017/05/23/google-following-your-offline-credit-card-spending-to-tell-advertisers-if-their-ads-work/

TL;DR... Google is tracking whether you buy stuff that is advertised to you, so it can show how efficient this is to advertisers.

Your data is anonymised, but we know from research it is never truly anonymised.
