I recall conversations like this.
'The car's not working'
'Well it's fine when I drive it'

I think a complicating factor may be that the old account was POP3 and the new one is IMAP.
Can't figure it out I've got stuff in the 'Sent' folder from like 2007 up till Sept 2014  and two folders I haven't seen for years and that without doing anything at all but nothing else.  How the F does that happen?
Managed to get what looks like some of my addresses across as a CSV file.

well if you've switched from pop3 to imap, that's a different story.

pop 3 you're creating local folders just on your pc, and getting the mail from the server, and then if you want to you copy it to folders etc.

imap is a local synchronised copy of the server.

so, if I'm using pop3 on this pc(and assume I've got option ticket to leave on server), and i copy an email in thunderbird into the "PC" folder, it downloads and copies there.

if i log into webmail, it will still be in inbox, if i use pop 3 on another pc it will download to inbox.

imap however, i move into pc folder here in thunderbird, log into webmail, it's in pc folder, log into another pc use thuinderbird it's in pc folder.

didn't you have problems with POP3 Vs. imap before, where you downloaded them onto yoru pc, so they weren't on server anymore?

you can edit setting in thunderbird to get and delete from server, and delete from server if you delete locally etc.

Plugged in my trusty old Epson SX515 and it's already recognised and runs fine without looking for drivers etc but as I couldn't find the status monitor I tried Epsons live chat only to get this.

Quote:
I can confirm that your product is not supported on your current operating system. It was originally designed for the operating systems available at the time of manufacture and whilst EPSON do endeavour to provide drivers for new operating systems, this is not always possible. There are no current plans to release a driver for your product but we are happy to continue supporting it under the operating systems listed as compatible at the time of purchase and will offer assistance or alternative solutions where possible.
Like I said. It works fine just can't find the status monitor to see ink levels.
Looks like something else to spend on (eventually)

Are Epsons still the easiest in terms of 3rd party inks and general ease of use?

I have an Epson Photo Colour 950, getting cheap official Epson ink cartridges is still not to hard thanks to eBay (I wouldn't recommend any third party ink, unless you don't care about fading).

Absolutely no 64 bit drivers (a few half workarounds for it but none of them what I'd call a solution), so instead I run a 32bit XP OS inside VirtualBox whenever I want to print. I don't do it enough for it to be a pain, but at least I can still use my scanner and printer.

Knowing how unified their drivers are, I find it disgusting that Epson don't support things for very long. They should be ashamed of themselves for the way they abandoned whole swathes of their customer base.

Sounds a bit above my pay grade.
As I mentioned though it seemed to work just plugging it in and printing a random page off a spreadsheet.
I'll play with it a bit more and see what it can't do.

I've been using third party inks for years as anything photo that needs not to fade you can either get cheaply at ASDA or pay for to be done properly on say Photobox.

I always had a problem when searching for official inks as everyone and his dog claim that theirs is just that, even if it's mixed in a bucket in the back yard.

It's quite easy, you just need a copy of XP. ;) That's the hardest part.
