PC prices

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 11th August 2016, 12:40

Looking around at Desktops and monitors and without being able to refer to specific items it seems to me that stuff has gone up in price over the last 2/3 months.
Anyone else noticed this or am I just being a bit paranoid as I wouldn't have expected the Brexit vote to have filtered through quite this quick.

This was a headline two weeks after the Brexit vote...

I guess it's like the energy companies. Wholesale oil, gas and electricity goes up, the price rise is passed on immediately to the customer. When it goes down, it takes two or three years to filter down to the consumer.

Could be the Brexit, depends on how much stock they tend to keep in UK warehouses and paid for in advance. Could also be people taking advantage of the Brexit and blaming it.

A bit like how petrol prices go up the moment the price of oil does, but take ages to go down after.

yes, a few manufactures have started to use Brexit as a reason/excuse to put prices up already, kind of the way that oil companies do with petrol.

out of curiosity I was looking at laptops earlier and there wasn't much similar spec/price to what I paid a few months ago for my missus' new one.

However, that may be that the ones being listed now are the latest i3, i5, i7s and the older cheaper ones are harder to find now, or are at the discount sellers now, rather than at the big boys.

For what it's worth, the laptop that I bought on sale for £584 a few months ago, is even more on sale now. It's £529. This is despite Dell putting their prices up the week after Brexit.

Not just me then.

I'd swear a desktop I had my eye on is about 40/50 quid more than I remember.
