Do not trust cloud storage as it could go the same blackmail way as Photobucket, or just close down overnight.

I tend to use back up separate disk storage at work, and for smaller data on home computer, memory sticks.

it's more for "belt and braces" rather than instead of, as mentioned earlier, it's all well and good backing up to a usb  hard drive and blank dvd, but if you get burgled/house fire, they're not much use :(

my concern with flickr is more if you put images there, as it's also for photo sharing, could them turn up in google images, or am I being paranoid ;)

You can set permissions on Flickr, and invite people to certain groups so only they can see photos.

I thought it was unlimited now (even with ads) but it's been a while. I've paid for a while, but as a way to share my pics rather than back them up. I wouldn't recommend it for backing up, stick with Amazon for that, it's cheaper and you get Amazon Video and Prime delivery thrown in.

Or if really all you want to do is back up everything, something like Backblaze.

And I got 6 months free with a Humble Bundle! It can take a while for the first backup though, and when I say a while I mean weeks, because well I have a few TB of data.

There is a setting in it to decide how quickly it uploads, that is worth fiddling with to speed it up a bit.

And it's limited to one PC, there was one called Crashplan that had unlimited PCs, but they changed that very recently. So if you want to back up two PCs, you need two plans.

I pay for it now, it's very unobtrusive. Forget it's even there.

any movers or shakers here?

I s filled up free Dropbox, free irista, and free Amazon storage, so looks like I'll start paying now, Prime still seems best value for money.

What are you using the storage for? Backup? Sharing things?

Amazon Prime includes unlimited photo storage, but not videos. If you want unlimited everything then it's £55 a year I think, and the cheapest.

If you have enough free space across cloud services to share what you need and you just want automated backup then Backblaze is $60 a year per computer for unlimited storage, which is great if you want just one computer to be backed up automatically without worrying about it.

£79.00 a year gives me storage, films and TV, music (some but not all) and next day delivery.
Still seems like a reasonable deal to me.
No doubt if they had to pay all their tax the price would go up.
