That is a pain, but at least it works I guess. I recently had to uninstall every google thing on my Win7 dev machine just to get Chrome working properly again after updating it to v40.
Someone give me a team and a few million to build a brand new OS that is memory and cpu efficient, secure by design, and you never have to reboot. :(

another update today...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3036140?wa=wsignin1.0
virtualbox is odd, haven't updated it, but sometimes I have to run verifier.exe as admin and delete the setting for it to start my vm, even though it says it didn't do anything! Earlier today my vm wouldn't start, so I tried again, got a different error message, tried again, and it worked!
apart from that it's more or less ok, getting into settinsg can be troublesome, I can never find add/remove programs so have to search for it, and the notifications feature looks neat (looks like various Linux DEs have done for years;) ) but it doesn't actuall work properly, you get a notification, click on it to get more info, and nothing happens.
i was reading on another forum ppl haveing issues with wireless, it being temperemental, and a few other things, suggesting maybe they've only got limited drivers ready, I guess the more ppl download the free previews they can see what hardware is/isn't working with defaults/drivers from earlier windows and improve them, or like before just tell you to buy new ones :(
Windows 10 will take up less space:

Shame they aren't making it take up less space by making it leaner and faster, but it's a start I guess.

Windows 10 will be free for pirates! Boat optional...

"We are excited to launch Windows 10 this summer. Anyone with a qualified device can upgrade to Window 10, including those with pirated copies of Windows," a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer. "We believe customers over time will realise the value of properly licensing Windows and we will make it easy for them to move to legitimate copies."
Interesting move! I didn't know anyone pirated Windows these days. I guess they do in some countries.

Well there'll be a catch won't there?
I know a few people who pirate Windows still. Personally I don't see any value in Windows whatsoever so I wouldn't use it or pirate it. But if I thought it was worth it....well, I would rather buy it than trust some dodgy hack to bypass WGA. God only knows what you would open your system up to with those things. No thanks!
it's free for the first year, after that you'll need to buy it.
maybe they're hoping people will then buy other products from the shop?
I think a big update just came out, I don't know if my install updated yesterday or not, so either
a) it did and it had no unwanted side effects , yay :)
b) it didn't, so I need to keep my fingers crossed ;)
SteamOS/Linux version is gaining momentum, but until then, if you want to play games on a computer, then it has to be Windows :(

It certainly sounds like pirates will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 at no cost — the alternative, that they could pay to upgrade to a copy of Windows that still isn't considered genuine, would be strange — but it's quite possible that Microsoft will include some restrictions on unofficial copies that have yet to be mentioned. It could be a limited offer, include a trial period, or have some other promotion around acquiring a genuine license.
I guess they'll find out soon enough, and probably bleat a lot about it!

few battles this weekend, did the update then obviously virtualbox stopped working, again various problems, ended up me having to reinstall Win 10 as restore point wouldn't work. Virtual Box was giving me different error messages, so I thought I'd try latest version which was released recently, but that stopped network, and USB on host from working :( bizarrly f8 to go into safe mode isn't enabled by default, so I couldn't boot into safe mode to uninstall it/mess around with files it may have installed.
so currently win 10 is up to latest, but virtualbox has been uninstalled when I feel like fighting some more I'll install the one that was working before the update. I think the problem is one I've had before and googling suggests its happened on Win 7 and 8, where a driver update (in my case the host's network card) means VirtualBox gets upset the old network adapter can't be found, but doesn't know about the new one :(
On the plus side, I found out that EaseUS who do some good, free partitioning Windows software, also do some free backup software, which can be used to create an image, so you can use a boot cd to restore :)
edit:
bugger, installed the old version of virtualbox and again networkign stopped working, as did keybaord and mouse :( fingers crossed mr google is more productive tha it's been before with my issues :(
