Billie Eilish picked to perform next Bond Theme.

Despite being way outside her target audience, I'm a massive fan of Ms Eilish. Not only for her music but also for her general outlook, plus she's great with her fanbase.

Would her style of music & vocals suit a Bond theme? Sam Smith's effort last time was a bit of a dirge, despite picking up an Oscar (not necessarily a sign of quality), and there has been some stinkers, as well as some eventual favourites (Chris Cornell & Gladys Knight)

The BBC just cobbled together a list, but it doesn't look like they've put a lot of thought into it.

I miss the days when the composer was involved in the songwriting process, allowing the theme to be used throughout the film. This hasn't happened since Casino Royale.

Having sampled a few of her songs, I can't say I'm very hopeful. Some of the most insipid bilge I've ever heard, but I guess it can't be worse than Sam Smith's hilariously awful offering.

Not really bothered, last one I liked was Living Daylights but even then it just wasn't that big a deal to me...

I haven't recognised any of the Bond crooners since Madonna caterwauled on Die Another Day.

Last one I liked was the one after your's Si, on Licence to Kill, as that sounded suitably Bassey-ish.

I do like The World is Not Enough by Garbage, which was also co-written by David Arnold who did the soundtrack.

I remember it was around that time that there was a sudden upsurge in interest in Bond Themes. Sparked, no doubt, by this little gem.

Reaction from this old fart was 'Who?'

Anything would be an improvement on that dirge Skyfall.

The Chrissie Hynde version of Live And Let Die from that same album was, IMO, better than the original.

The start is terrible but it gets better. Ish.

I feel like this might have been a good song if it was performed by somebody who could actually sing.
