[VIDEO] Neil Peart RIP

So sad to hear of the death of the legendary Rush drummer, Neil Peart last night.  Died on the 7th but only released yesterday, another sign of how private a person he and his family were.  He'd been through more than enough personal tragedies over the last years and this is one more for his family. f***ing cancer again.
He retired from Rush back in 2015 (thankfully I saw them on that tour too), often playing in agony, but saying he always wanted to play the drums how he always did and it wasn't in him to 'slow down'.  All or nothing meant retirement.

For me, the greatest drummer in the world, and won that accolade on numerous occasions. Amazing lyricist too - and has been my sig here for as long as I recall.
Lots of tributes last night, I liked this one - and then did just the same..
"The greatest of all time. RIP Neil Peart. I’m going to go raise a glass and then air-drum the s*** out of Tom Sawyer."

Sooo sad, RIP Neil.

i never got into Rush, but had his heard name mentioned so many times by the likes of Dave Lombardo. Today's Facebook has posts by just about every band I like paying tribute to him, about he was such an influence, and nice guy.

Absolutely gutted when I heard the news last night in the pub. Came home and played Moving Pictures very very loud.
Luckily got to see the last two tours they did over here.
Today i'm in more reflective mood an d watching this again put a smile back on my face. It shows three nerdy guys who are genuine friends gradually getting drunk and having a laugh too.
RIP Neil.

Favourite album.

Love this clip which anyone who's seen the ace film I Love You, Man will be familiar with.

And this...

I'm the same, the only song I was familiar with was Spirit of Radio but only because it was a UK hit back in 80/81 and appears on loads of compilations.

Bought the Chronicles compilation last night though...

A totally different take on a great Rush song, Time Stand Still.
Always loved the lyrics to this, about how the good things in life seem to go too quickly and we'd like to 'freeze some moments a bit longer'..
The lines about 'children growing up, old friends growing older' would ring true with many I'm sure and always gets me..

Yeah, Rush was brilliant, so sad, the Big C again.

I would advise all to get checked out all the time, regarding some of the worst killers for men is bowel cancer and woman breast/cervic cancer, and can be caught in time if doing the tests provided on the NHS.

I was one for not testing for bowel cancer and threw the free testing kit in the bin every time it came in (it comes in on a two year basis if you are over 55 if I remember), but a few years back blood was down there, I got the fear of God and I rushed into the Doctor and got the old finger up the bot, and got the bowel cancer test done and blood samples taken out my arm, and luckly I was OK, turned out to be a temporary tear in the bowls due to constipation. I now tell everyone I meet that is over 55 to take the tests, forget any embarrassment. Better safe than sorry.
