I get all that mills but this was billed as the biggest most wildly available Glastonbury ever.
You could watch a load of bands at any time via multiple methods.
What if the other bands had said "oh it might rain, you can only show an hour!" (Must admit, I`d not heard the rain `excuse` before.)
The headline act should really headline it.

That was billed via the BBC not Glastonbury or The Rolling Stones though.

The bands at Glastonbury only get a fraction of their normal fee for playing, plus the BBC get the rights "cheap", as Glastonbury turn down other outlets who offer more.

The Glastonbury headliner slot is also 1 hours 30mins, but they will extend if the band want.

Of the 3 headliners

Arctic Monkeys   1 hour 30mins

Mumford & Sons 1 hour 40mins

Rolling Stones    1 hour 30mins available as a show, with Jumping Jack Flash and Glastonbury Girl from the opening hour being allowed on the highlights shows, so they actually had the longest amount of time on tv of everyone at this years Glastonbury.

My view (being an actual punter) is I`m glad they insisted on doing the extra hour, which they didn`t have to especially considering they are being paid less than they would for anywhere else.

I would love the full set to be available (and someone on dimeadozen actually has it from the Satellite feed, but took down the torrent after getting loads of abuse for being slow seeding :( ).

Although I`m bloody blocked on their and no way of getting my downloads back.  I put on a torrent that only had a couple of seeds and downloaded 5gb but then although left it there for ages only uploaded .31gb and have since changed laptops, so no way of even downloading anything to get my seed back up :(

I thought the Stones only wanted four songs to be shown but it was extended up to an hour after extensive negotiations?
As for the money side of it, do we know how much they got?  I know lots of the negotiations were also over TV rights and overseas fees. :/

Yeah they said only 4 songs originally, then extended after negotiations.

They got paid about £350,000 I think (as pretty sure this has been listed as normal fee and that`s all they got).

I believe their concern was they were happy to do reduced fee for Glastonbury, but then didn`t want the fees they received for selling on their footage to be far in excess of them earning less or effectively giving away the footage for free when they will have dvd`s of Hyde Park etc.

The Libertines got £1.2million for doing Leeds and Reading the other year (which does involved 2 gigs though).

The full dvd of the gig is available again if anyone wants.  Put the link in spoilers as not sure if you`d want it on here RJS?  Will PM people if that`s better.

Yeah fair enough, what is the best way when wanting to double check something like that?

I would usually post and wait for response, but actually didn`t think I would be able to be on for the next few days, so thought best to put on a thread you were actively looking at as would be seen quick.

Out of interest, I heard about link from another forum (www.efestivals.co.uk)  .  A link to that thread would still have been controversial?

If it is a link to copyrighted material, that's against the forum rules. So links to bootlegs would be covered under that. :/

Generally anything that obviously links to copyrighted material is a no-no, a link to a thread like that on a respectable site would be less controversial providing it wasn't blatantly obvious you are saying, "go here and there is a link to download a bootleg"

So the latter would be a grey area.

Any of you guys want tickets for the Elvis Costello, Ray Davies etc gig on Friday? I`ve got 4 going spare. Got them for my mum cos she wanted to see Elton John, but now he`s cancelled, so has she!

Drop me a PM if you fancy it and I`ll email the tickets over.

Cheers for the offer Mikeyblue.

I was actually looking at this the other day and thinking I wouldn`t mind that, but being London and short notice it`s too far from us. :(

There was a different example before that was possibly less clear cut for a link and I can`t for the life of me remember what it was I had wanted to know if acceptable.
