Which Player Should I Buy

Jonno69UK (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 8th February 2001, 09:26

I am looking to purchase my first DVD Player. I want something that will play multi-region, VCD & MP3 and is not too expensive.

I have been considering the SCAN Player & the XWave player - which is the best and why OR are there any more machines I should be considering ???

I`d go for the Scan - there`s loads of support here if you need help with it (nivz and others are very helpful). I`ve seen many postings on here from people who are happy with the scan and also seen quite a few who`ve had problems - if I were you I`d read through and make up your own mind! I did and purchased one last week - it worked without problem straight out of the box and so did my mate`s.

I`ve never heard of the Xwave - I did consider getting a `Yelo` which looked feature packed and cheap (under £200) but I`ve heard that it isn`t realiable and noticed that on this forum the `yelo` doesn`t get mentioned.

If you want mp3 and multi region and cheap then I`d go for a scan - alternatively you could go for a `name` such as samsung and convert it to multi region. but I believe the Scan is the only one or one of a small number that plays mp3.

also keep in mind that the technology is constantly inproving - so the player you buy today could well be old hat in a year or 2.
