There is only one direction of travel for the Beeb with this lot in power.

I don't think any of this lot will survive. Their all covered in Boris' taint. With an 80 seat majority, there's more than enough on the back benches to form a government. Right now, I wouldn't be surprised if the weekly cabinet meetings are just an excuse for a p***-up.

The public can see all this Operation Red Meat as a diversionary tactic, and the next government will probably drop most of it. They'll then return to the slow and patient death of a thousand cuts that they've been applying to the BBC thus far.

I am a great fan of auntie beeb but the license fee is too much for some pensioners and those on low income so something has to change but like most I don't have the answer either

The govt. abolished the free licence fee for pensioners and then said the Beeb could pay it if they wanted to keep it (deliberately making it the BBC's problem - they could then blame them for forever more).

I hate to say it, but they've done it to themselves.

Being soft for so long on a government that clearly wanted to destroy them didn't work very well, it just enabled them to get more powerful and lost them the support of the people who defended the license fee model because at least they held the government to account.

Yet the reason they are screwing the Beeb is they think they've been massively anti Tory.

It's always been because their friends own media outlets that compete with the BBC and want them gone... and traditionally they don't want to be held to account.
