BT wants 10 years to de-Huawei

You would not believe how many BT managers there are on £50k+ pa who would struggle to wire a plug, never mind understand the problem.

Why not put CGHQ in charge?

It's not as easy as it sounds! It is also very expensive to just replace this level of equipment, if you have something that's the same size, works exactly the same way (haha good luck with that!), even then it isn't exactly instant.

Think it is time to take the chinese out of the equation, for all major projects concerning electronics and software. Especially Nuclear power stations.

Who knows what hidden software can be in there. How about a program that melts down the reactor, and takes out half of England.

You may scoff but security aspects is a major issue in large projects. There is even a conspiracy that the channel tunnel, which had the boring machines sealed off to the side of the tunnels are packed full of explosives, to flood the tunnel at the press of a button, if an enemy invades.

This was discussed on a forum I attended years ago, and a German engineer asked the question who would likely be the enemy? and all fingers pointed at him, and we burst out laughing

I can tell you with some authority that that's complete bollocks. My uncle was on the team that drove the submerged machine off to one side, then pumped the empty void in the drill with concrete.

Also, there was a massive truck fire in the tunnel a few years ago that destroyed a considerable stretch of tunnel. I think we would have found out then if there was any C4 in the walls

However, and you might want to sit down for this, I'm 100% with you that any company so deeply entrenched in foreign Govt contracts has no place having any kind of foothold in our local telecommunication infrastructure. I wouldn't go as far as to say they could shut down a nuclear reactor on a whim, but there's certainly other privacy concerns, private & domestic, that they should be kept the hell away from. That's why Australia wants to ban TikTok.

Whilst I agree China is not a government to trust, it's not easy to build anything which does not contain Chinese made parts.

Most of the electronics in your house already do, good luck replacing all of those with Chinese free solutions!

Zero evidence and Geopolitical following the US Gov.
As though the likes of Cisco etc. are perfect too. God I remember so well the flaws in their infrastructure that was and is used worldwide.

I'm just relieved that we don't have to rely on trade with China because our economy is doing so well

So if we've got Huawei tech infiltrated through the NHS that means Trump won't want to buy it right.
