"What sort of mentality is that, its pure thug mentality attacking an old man."
It's what happens when you promote a them-and-us culture that dehumanises human beings, have a government with no compassion or desire for change, and no system that holds law enforcement accountable to the same legal rules as the rest of us.

I've been seeing a number of posts on twitter of full para military gear guys with no badge, no insignia and refusing to talk.
Trump may have got his own Liebstandarte.

No mate.
Most of those numpties have never been closer to military than owning a GI Joe when they were a kid.
These were lined up fully equipped and ranked up as a barrier.
Several reports (haven't seen any pics) that some police were covering their badges and insignia.
I'm assuming that it's not required by law to show that kind of ID in the USA, or maybe it's a state by state thing.
I can remember when all police vehicles over here had to have large visible ID on them so it can't be that long ago it came in here.
EDIT:
For some reason this wont let me copy the actual link

So on both sides of the Atlantic now, there appears to to be serious moves to both defund and abolish the Police from people who really should know better.
This isn't going to end well...

Wasn't sure where to put this, but this thread seems quite appropriate:

Came across this on my FB feed, honestly thought it was an Onion-style spoof initially:

A little good news finally
Quote:
"Nigel Farage's contract with LBC is up very shortly and, following discussions with him, Nigel is stepping down from LBC with immediate effect," LBC said.I'd argue that's a very loose definition of 'stepping down' in much the same way as that statue in Bristol stepped down.

You say that, but I think a reckoning might be coming.
I really hope I'm wrong, but I think it's coming as a reaction to all this violence, removal of statues (which can be argued either way in some cases) and banning of TV programmes.

You only have to look at the locals coming out to defend the statue of Lord Baden-Powell yesterday, this is escalating...

Really excellent thread on 'White lives matter' / 'Black lives matter' and the Priya Gopal furore.
It's long-ish (probably no-one will read it) Can't really précis it but it basically argues against the (often wilful) misunderstandings of the BLM position.
