RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

The stupidity of the public can't be discounted, true. But it has been facilitated by this government, which has failed consistently since this pandemic began, and compounded matters with mixed messages and complacency. And Cummings trip to Barnard Castle.

They were late with the lockdown, but they got there in the end, and had the public onside. But they had to get the economy going again no matter what, and wound up opening up too fast. The aim should have been to keep the R down, and they had the right approach at first with re-opening. Make a change, leave it a couple of weeks, and see what happens. But by the middle of summer they just threw caution to the wind and gave hospitality sector a green light, and by the end of summer, schools and colleges open without a second thought. This compounded with their Eat Out to Help Out, and Get Your Asses Back to the Workplace schemes... What did you expect?

And once the British Public had their freedoms restored after a difficult lockdown, they're hardly going to give them up again, are they?

And now... they've put VAT back on PPE, pay more for those masks that you're mandated to wear by law on transport and in shops.
EDIT: And Imperial College published a study that indicates that antibodies decline in people who've had Covid within 6 months. In other words Herd Immunity is a crock, and once you've had Covid, you'll get it again, and again, and again... just like any other coronavirus (a.k.a. the common cold).

For the same reasons enough of us won't want to tackle climate change until it's killing people we know and love... Covid.

Agreed. Some really decent people doing some great work. Unfortunately there are also some absolute c***s. Luckily the anti-masker, anti-vaccine ''covid is a hoax'' conspiracy theorists are still a pretty small minority in the UK, unlike the US.

I have been and still do wash all shopping. It is incredibly bloody tedious but I don't take chances.

Unless we get a stroke of luck, it looks like we are going to get hit pretty badly over the winter. When Vallance warned a couple of months ago that we could be up to 200 deaths a day by mid November, the Julia Heartless Brewers of this world mocked the figures as scare mongering. We are already averaging that figure in October.

Welp, Germany and France are locking down again.

Judging by past performance, I guess Boris will wait till the end of November to follow suit, by which time we'll be top of the league again in terms of mortality and infection, and we can look forward to Christmas and New Year under house arrest.

Nearly every one of our Ambulances was stacked up at Hull Royal Infirmary tonight. Four to five hour wait for one. all the normal waste of space calls, some emergencies but many more Covid patients. I've worked all through and I can only describe myself as numbed and angry. Numbed and depressed as I feel my job has become an unappreciated treadmill and angry. No make that really angry with the tin foil hat brigade or the deniers. Hate going out in case some twat opens their mouth and says something along the lines of "It's all about control or it is rubbish all this Covid lark" They get both barrels and invited to spend all shift in full suit and respirator cleaning Covid vehicles for the Ambulance Service. They tend to shut up very quickly. Morale at work couldn't get any lower and I think it is down to continually being told or reading rubbish that people post online.
Can't wait to get away from it all. I've got a fortnight holiday at home to switch off from it all.

Not sure what to say to that, apart from thanks, and hope you have a nice break, if you can switch off for a bit, sounds like you deserve and need it.

Heard on I think Times radio.

There's a A&E consultant they've been talking to regularly who couldn't come on as he had Covid. He didn't think constantly coughing down the line would be ideal.
When he was well enough they had him on again, this little story may make you want to give up.

He ordered a Pizza while unwell and told the company to leave it on the step as he had Covid.
Delivery guy knocked, Doc apologised about the faff of leaving it on the step and Pizza guy says no problem as it's all fake anyway.

Doc explains he's a consultant, he's got it and it isn't fake.

Reply?

'Yeh but proper doctors are saying it doesn't exist.'

Too sick to argue, went and ate Pizza.

Interesting how there are contrarians who don't believe in covid or climate change but are happy to believe that Hillary Clinton is part of a human-blood drinking paedophile ring operating out of a pizza restaurant basement.

Eat Out to Help Out directly linked to a spike in Covid cases, probably up to 17%.
