RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

Had an email from the kids' school today saying a member of the school community has tested positive for COVID 19.

Getting a bit too close to home now. They've said that people who have been in contact with this person must stay at home for 2 weeks, but the school is open as normal for time being. It's half term next week, which is probably a good thing.

Had to laugh, there was a 87 year old woman talking to the news team on the streets of one of those lockdown-ed hot spot towns, and saying "stuff the lockdown I have only a few years left to live anyway and not getting stuck behind four walls", LOL.

I can now visualise a hoard of kamikazi grannies hitting the streets after curfew and going on the rampage through the town center :D

This sort of thing really makes me laugh, if you only had a few years left, why would you want them to be shorter? :)

yeh, I'd rather go like my dad's dad did, went to bed as normal, absolutely fine, nurse in care home took him cup of tea on morning, called his name a few times, gave him a shake, died in night, a year and a week after his wife had gone!

My other grandad on the other hand, hospital bed, tubes pipes, various ppl prodding and poking, standing round till the machine showed he had gone :(

Old age and covid doesn't sound a good combo.

1 class in the kids' school has been told to self isolate for 2 weeks. Details ar vague, school doesn't want to scare ppl so the mums on facebook start the rumours and gossip :(

A cover up is always worse than just being straight with people...

I suspect a lot of that is due to social media intolerance, but it has always been an issue.  I think these days though it's seen very much as an act of weakness, and so much in taken out of context you can never 'win'...

I don't think they were trying to cover up, but were in discussions with council, health authority etc about what to do, and so didn't want to alarm people unnecessarily too early, but they knew they had to say something.

it's a shame, not long after the school email, one mum on a group message said, sorry to hear "John" has to self isolate, luckily "John's" mum had received the phonecall from the school saying one the parent of one of their class mate's has tested positive.

So "John's" class has to stay home for 2 weeks, but he has a sibling, in another class, so should that class self isolate for 2 weeks, and what about siblings of them?

When they came home for half term on Friday they had been given details for online teaching, so the school is more prepared this time than last time for another lockdown, or groups of children having to stay at home.

367 deaths in the last 24 hours, and 22885 confirmed cases

9199 patients in hospital, 852 on ventilators, over a thousand admitted in the last day.

It's out of control again. Forget all this tier crap! It's gotta be a national lockdown again, and god help us all if those incompetent fools are still in government when we come out of it, cos they'll just do the same thing again.

couldn't agree more, but the public have already shown how self centered they are when during the summer they flocked to beaches, had street parties... a National Lockdown, should mean national, i have worked every day throughout, and will continue to do so...

why blame the government for the stupidity of the general population... the current government have inherited a lack of infrastructure after decades of mismanagement and underfunding, and cuts to the blue light services, the military, by all three parties, under Labour, Conservatives, and the Coalition govts.

Dont think Boris is a buffoon... he is an extremely clever bloke, but he is guided/misguided by all those advisors around him.  As the Prime Minister he is head of the government, he is not solely responsible.

How is any National Lockdown going to be enforced, in this country we police by consent, do you want the military on the streets, road blocks, check points to stop movement?

Rule of 6, i constantly see this being blatantly ignored, even people posting pictures on social media at family parties with excessive numbers, and different household mixing.

Personally i think we got off lightly in the summer, due to good weather and people being able to get outside... this winter may see many more people die, if its cold damp and wet from colds, pneumonia, influenza, covid, all of which will have an effect on those with preexisting illnesses.

The media have a role to play, but they are more intent of stirring up division and hatred, polarising the country... so much good has come out in this country, people looking out for neighbours, the covid volunteers, clapping for the NHS, Marcus Rashford campaigning for free school meals during holidays (even now the media have started to attack him for his personal wealth)... FFS this man is self made, worked hard to get where he is, and spends countless hours/time engaging with kids, and promoting good causes.

Lack of traffic on the roads in the summer, i started cycling to work, the air quality improved, people i know with asthma their health improved!

Am I personally worried, no as I and my family are relatively healthy, and we have never forgotten, that 'coughs and sneezes spread diseases', or to wash hands when having visited the toilet... these messages are common sense... to minimise the opportunity to contract any disease you limit exposure to the harm... we don't eat raw chicken, or eggs, to avoid salmonella...

All my own personal thoughts...

I truly hope none on here, or their families become victims of this virus... take care all
