RE: [VIDEO] Coronavirus, anyone starting to get worried?

I got back to work 4 weeks ago in Windermere and was surprised at how busy the hotel and town was, I mean fecking mental in town but what surprised me and scared me was the lack of face masks, the hotel staff didn't wear them but we did have sanitisers all over and screens over reception, now one of the f&b staff tested positive on Friday, we had a wedding Saturday closed at 12 midday Sunday for 3 day deep clean, due back tomorrow but no idea what impact the latest decisions will have on the industry again.

When Boris says, "Come on, please, everyone, just obey the rules and we won't have to do a lockdown" I can't help but think about the last time he said that back in March, then one week later...

On the bright side, the number deaths is almost a 10th that it was in March when we "achieved" this number of infections before. So maybe, as long as the NHS isn't overwhelmed, we might avoid having our lives cancelled again.

The lock down was a one off, I don't think we'll have to go through that again, It's now all about the economy.

This is really to do with the young now (18-26), and trying to spell out to them that they are just as much at risk as the middle age and elderly. They should cut down on socialising at the moment. Though at that age it is difficult to do so.

Also I think children back at school, and workers in offices, will be massive spreaders of Covid, taking the R value up, but the Government is between a rock and a hard place, as if they stop education they are dammed, and same goes for the wrecking the economy and loss of jobs. All this verses trying to reduce the R rating, and cutting down those affected, and covid deaths. They are really walking a difficult path. Boris took on the job of PM at a really difficult time.

As Rob says, at least the NHS is not overwhelmed this time (at the moment), and that they have learned a lot about this Covid 19, knowing when to apply oxygen, and some drugs are now available that are helping. And using ventilators as last resort.

It is the fact that this Covid 19 situation will be with us for some time and really affects our lives in many ways, that is the real sickener.

Over 6000 new cases today, over 200 patients on ventilation in hospital (a few weeks ago it was under a hundred). and to go with grouse shooting, a goverment clarification issued today...

Chauffeur-driven cars will be exempt from the laws enforcing passengers to wear masks in taxis. The spokesman said the two were "not comparable", stressing that a private driver typically chauffeurs a single individual but the driver of licensed vehicle carries - and risks infection from - a range of customers and should be afforded protection.

Well, serves everyone right for *checks notes* eating out to help out, filling up the pubs again, going back to work, school and college and build, build, build-ing. I don't know what people were playing at...

Edit: Oh I forgot, we're such freedom lovers, not rule takers, unlike those Germans and *checks notes again* Italians

As everyone is supposed to be avoiding this nocturnal virus and be cowering behind their curtains on the stroke of twelve for the first time in years I've worked a day.
Soul destroying and I won't be doing it again.
I'll take my chances that there will be enough shift workers and others moving around tomorrow after curfew.

The problem is, mostly they aren't as at risk, but they spread it to people who are. :/
