The ban on evictions from rented housing ends in a couple of days. This is possibly the next big stored up major problem that the Tories don't seem to have dealt with. Are we about to see the next big f*** up hitting the headlines? That blonde bloke who apparently runs the country still nowhere to be seen.

I am fully expecting:

  1. Do the wrong thing
  2. Huge reaction from the public about how it's wrong
  3. Quiet for a few days
  4. Promise to fix it
  5. A week later do a less wrong thing

Because let's face it, this is how they have been making every other decision in government.

Kind of the opposite of how they used to do things, which was:

  1. Leak the wrong thing to the press
  2. Gauge public reaction to wrong thing
  3. Pretend they were never going to do the wrong thing anyway and then do nothing

Or...
  1. Go and do the wrong thing quietly on a day when they can bury it under other news so nobody notices

Seems that govt have now extended the non-eviction provision until September. This doesn't particularly help landlords of course. May ultimately have to allow for rent as extra welfare payments.

Interesting!"

Hopefully at some point some of this research will start to pan out.

Lots of theories, nothing yet proven as effective treatment...

Just back from Scotland visiting relatives, seems a lot safer up there as most people, even the young, are complying with face masks in buildings, supermarkets etc, unlike down south back home, where the young dont give a monkeys, and just do not wear a mask.

They have not had any covid deaths for a while now, but the wee SNP woman on telly says R rate could be as high as 1.6, as the whole UK has a rising R rate due to people going back to work and socialising in pubs etc.

Just wish the end was in sight, but unfortunately this covid 19 situation will linger on for a while.

The R rate will vary for a long time as people mix, but this is not necessarily a bad thing.

The thing I draw from Scotland's rising R number is that either Scots are not taking precautions or (as per your observations on maks wearing) that masks are just not having any effect.

It's one or the other if Scotland is now well above everything else...

There are many other things it can also be, an increase in testing in groups that were not previously being tested. A case can be someone who has tested positive, but you can test positive without ever showing symptoms or transmitting the virus, and count as a case.

Also it looks like the major increases are people under 40, a lot of people who are deemed a lower risk and likely to be taking bigger risks because they are young.
