And to be clear then, are you of the opinion that what he did was fine or not?"

Based on the following statement from Durham Police, I am of the opinion that what he did was fine and consistent with the regulations:

As I've said previously, if he really needs to resign or be fired then I expect the same standards to be upheld against all those others who breached social distancing guidelines.

In fact, only a few hours ago it was discovered that Jeremy Corbyn had mixed households more than once over the last few weeks by not only meeting up with his son on his allotment and taking selfies but also going on a group bike ride.

So, in conclusion, the Police investigating see no issue but the 'court of some public opinion' thinks otherwise.  I would be happy to see him go if Corbyn, Blackford, Kinnock, Ali and a number of other MP's resigned their seats and triggered a by-election in which they were unable to stand.

A common standard, that's all I ask.

**edit** oh, and that standard would also apply to Robert Jenrick and any other Conservative figures you'd like to throw in.

It's not though, what you are asking is that specific people which you have a unwavering belief in and will forgive any wrong doing because they are your tribe, can only be held to account if every single other person who has done the same or similar things is held to account first.

At least this is how you strongly come across, and somehow in this view you put everyone who is not in your tribe as Corbyn fans, Kinnock fans, etc.

I have seen group bike rides recently, but everyone about 8 M apart, so its not exactly a group, more like a conga line

The ones in charge making the rules have to be held to a higher and a more immediate standard than those on the sidelines bitching about it.

And yet, no outrage for anyone else who actually admitted breaching these rules themselves.  You're damn right I oppose Cummings having action against him now when all of these facts have been in the public domain for more than a couple of weeks and yet not a flicker of the furore here.

You obviously missed my edit.

I think that the higher you go, the higher your standards need to be. Right now, it seems the opposite.

Oh you mean that 'Setting an example' kind of thing?
To be honest, anyone who thinks all he did was fine (they even have local family) and driving with a suspected eye problem is too blinkered to see any other way.
He doesn't even regret it.
