Bloody banks

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 31st August 2019, 11:39

I'm guessing I'm not the only one who throws his £2 coins in a jar.
Just bagged them up in proper bank issued coin bags of £20 each and waltzed into TSB.

'I'm sorry sir we're only allowed to take a maximum of 10 bags at a time.'
'Why?'
(Shrug of shoulders) 'I imagine to avoid congestion at the tills'

I'm the only one in the bank and apparently it doesn't apply to business accounts (obviously)

So we now have banks refusing to accept coin of the realm without making their customers clog up their tills two days running and taking more time than it would to do it in one hit.

I became p***ed off at banks the second my local bank closed. I now can’t get to a bank without spending petrol money or paying for a bus ticket, which itself is a pain in the arse as buses don’t take cash anymore. ‘king Oyster! And don’t get me started on the new online payment verification. Can’t shop online without a smartphone with banking app or mobile phone to receive text messages, or that stupid pin reader device. Luckily they pushed back the start date ten months. If the bank needs me to have a smartphone to use a bank service, they can pay for the bloody thing themselves!

The 'red tape' of banks can be headbanging, and totally illogical.

If you try to get quite a lot out in cash, you have to go through hoops to get it, give notice and get it a few days later, why do you want it Sir? can you use another method of transaction Sir? its as though they do not want you to deal with cash! and that is the intent in the long run.

Tin foil hat on time...a cashless society accounts for every penny in and out that you earn, buy, sell, owe, deal with. And Big bro watching on taking note, thats the future, if we do not watch out

PS..for Snaps,,,there are many banks that have those machines in the public area, that you put your coins in, sorts them out,  and it gives you a totals receipt that you put into your account.

I have to go all the way into Manchester with coins now - but at least they don't charge you.

Oh for the joy of the days when on payday you got cash. You paid bills in shops including all your utilities.
Now it is just about impossible to function without having a bank account. Your only other option being a Post Office account. As Bandicoot said it is all about control and any excuse to extract more cash out of you at some point when they all start charging for even the most basic services.

Did not know the banks themselves did that, I know the public one at my local Azda supermarket takes 15%,which I thought was quite a lot.

Sorry Bandi didn't realise you meant banks had them.
I've never seen or heard of one anywhere up here.
