Not really mate . A few years ago I posted about the problems myself , my good lady and our daughter and grand-daughter were experiencing since our son and partner split up . Yesterday evening , to my eternal shame   I did something I am truly ashamed of. I came out of our local Asda  only to be met with a tirade of abuse . I had no idea it was our grandson that was hurling the abuse. I have not seen them for about five years , people change when growing up.  After being subject to vile abuse I grabbed the abuser by the throat , having absolutely no idea the one that was shouting "What are you looking at you fat c***"  This was repeated when I confronted the , at the time , unknown person . I grabbed him by the throat , wrestled him to the ground, then his three mates leathered in to me . I feel absolutely distraught that not only did I lift my hands to a stranger , then to only realise it was our grandson. I feel absolutely f***ing terrible . I truly feel a complete and utterly reprehensible man . I truly did not recognise him but still feel dreadful . Life is an absolute b***ard when bairns are weaponised by mothers .

i remember you saying about that bad time you were having a while ago, and sorry to hear what just happened.

how were you to know who it was, sounds like you were pushed into acting out of the norm, we all "snap" sometimes.

when things have calmed down are you able to speak to him do you think?

i've sent you a pm, although i don't know if that works.

Sadly there is no possibility we could speak "Sensibly", his mum has made sure of that by weaponizing the children . Sadly my good lady and I have realised the bairns are being coached / programmed  to hate us all . I feel truly and deeply saddened at what I did . I had absolutely no idea who he was and would have acted the same at some ned shouting abuse at me . I just have absolutely no idea what to do . I came home last night to three policemen in our living room, not at my request. Prior to this I had went to the other grand-parents to speak to them about it . Unbeknown to me my face was literally covered in blood . The other grandad was actually truly horrified at the state of my face, only a flesh wound in my eyes ; and said I should contact the police . I could not do that as no matter what has happened  he is still my grandson . Life is an absolute b***h . Just venting mate but thank you for taking the time to reply .

no problem, we've all done things in the heat of the moment and regretted them and done things we aren't proud of doing

Good grief, Chaogs, that's an awful position to have found yourself in.  I completely understand the feelings of guilt you're feeling, especially as you were not only caught off-guard but by a grandson you clearly didn't recognise.

Take it easy, this isn't your fault as this looks pre-planned from what I gleaned from your posts above.

All I'd say is, be wary of not getting the Police involved as this has a good chance of escalating.

I would suggest as police are already involved, you log everything, writed down what you remember.

As it happened at supermarket, i assume CCTV is being seized as evidence, this will hopefully corroborate you version of the incident.

Hopefully this will be the end of the incident... but i doubt it.

You can always consider consider taking precautions... panic alarm, cctv covering your home, vehicle if parked on the street?

If you get on with you neighbours, let them know, as i am sure they will support you by keeping an eye out.
