Big clampdown on car tax evasion

bandicoot (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 3rd July 2019, 13:40

Due to the big rise in car tax dodgers, there has been a massive exorcise by Police in many districts to clamp cars that have no tax.

i noted two cars today clamped in my local town. They will have to pay for car tax and a fine, before being released.

Info from my Bro-in-law in Scotland: They even got permission in Scotland to clamp, even though clamping was made illegal for parking fines a while back, to do away with the evil clampers. The Scottish police can now clamp for car tax evasion.

So everyone better check their car tax.....

They've been doing this recently on the island, and promoting everytime they do it.

Good!

There's no excuse not to now as it's easily affordable with monthly payments...

My gripe is the Smart car ( a low emmision's car with a small engine) which is my Daughters favorite, and has owned two of them, has went from £30 a year for pre 2017 tax rules, to now £140 per year for her latest model. That is some jump.

it seems all small cars with low emmision engines and all Hybrids and all Electric cars are now £140 per year, So no cars are low or zero tax any more, if registered after 2017.

I assume the Government thought they would lose a lot of car tax, as people moved onto small engines or hybrid or all Electric which were zero tax.  So its nothing to do with enviromental emmisions, but instead just a pure tax for owning a car.
