Actually had a few drinks in his company way back when he was still working at Kings College hospital.
My partner at the time was working in the labs there so quite often ended up with various medical types. Just remember a quite amiable guy and fairly shy considering he was kind of obvious.
I hope the pleasure he gave to millions gave as much to him.

yeh, it's nice isn't it, you're not likely to get ppl being nasty/slagging him off, but all the anecdotes, pictures from his estate etc do seem to show what a genuinely nice, humble bloke he was.
