Music streaming.

Interested in peoples preferences.
As I'm already subscribed to Amazon Prime I'm tempted by their unlimited service but who do you lot use and why.

I just use the free service as I still buy a lot of music via Amazon so not worth it in my case.  I prefer to own and directly support the artists via possession rather than streaming, but I don't discourage others from streaming with this argument.

My other half uses the Amazon Prime Unlimited and she loves it, although for her it has its pitfalls as I can then subject her to my musical tastes...

Now 80s. Channel 83 on Freeview. Now 90s on 84 if I want a change. Technically TV is streaming, right?

I don't stream music at all, I might have got into it had the space on iPhones not been so generous as to hold insane numbers of albums, but since I consume albums rather than singles...

...unless Absolute 80's and Absolute 90's DAB in the car (with a nod to Jitendar) counts as streaming? :)

Amazon Prime is okay for basic but there's a lot that flags up as only on unlimited which is annoying if someone comes up I want to hear more of. Not ideal for following an artist and I do a lot of late night YouTube crawling which brings up the same problem.

Absolute Rock is alright in the car but a very narrow playlist.
Planet Rock sometimes but they tend to go a bit too metal and thrash a bit too often.

If you buy do you buy CD or just download?

Jesus no.
She hates most of mine and the other way round.
A playlist full of Robbie Williams and George Benson! Bleurgh.

I've got a HDD full of stuff acquired from all over and never tend to listen to a lot as I've never found a simple way of cataloguing it other than song by song. I may have to re-install iTunes ( I went to Media Monkey some time ago) as I had a lot sorted for that but they kept changing the program so I could never find functions previously obvious. That and the every other day update flags.

Not something I've ever heard levelled at Apple before. Historically they were ridiculously the opposite with the space on their devices and had a cheek to charge what they did to increase it.
I use Spotify Premium but generally through Sonos. I hate the App. I only have it because its free with my phone contract.

Yes it did used to be worse, but with the iPhone 6S the 64GB models were actually cheaper from O2 than the 32GB ones, and currently my XR has 128GB and 72GB of that is free.

I still use WinAmp and for tagging I use MusicBrainz Picard:

By a long way the best music tagging app I've used is mp3tag.
Very powerful tool {esp some of the regex stuff)

Agree about mp3tag, I have about 48k mp3's.
Mine are sorted by Artist first, then album then track number.
I uploaded mine to Google (for free) then stream using the Google music app. The limit is 50k tracks, sooner or later I will have run out of space & will have to remove something to add a new album.
