She was awesome, great in Ab Fab...always got the feeling (much later than when watching it as a kid) that she was a sexually repressed wife in Terry and June...

I've been watching It Ain't Half Hot Mum the last couple of years on and off, a Sunday morning routine just to stick the next episode on, as binge watching sort of kills the comedy for me. Total coincidence, today I put an episode on, and June Whitfield was the guest star, in a totally atypical role. She played a randy army captain who took a shine to the effete Ashwood. Hilarious stuff!

Great actress, always liked her in ad fab as that was fun, but was not a Terry and June fan as never liked the show, was far too English for me and could not get the subtle humor of it.

Its weird how foreigners see humor differently, and certain types of English humor can be hit and miss in certain countries. my wife who is a Scot, told me that terry and june was never seen in Scotland, as it would not be understood. A bit like Rab C Nesbitt shown in England

I never liked sit com humor, like terry and june, or to the manor born, etc, yet loved Monty python, ad fab , etc. Maybe visual jokes helped.
