HMV going out of business... again.

The death of the high street continues apace, as HMV call in the administrators once more.

I haven’t spent money in an HMV since before the first time they went under. Online is so much more convenient, and it’s hard to hear myself think through the dirge they play in the shops to actually want to spend any money in there.

Lol just posted this myself (deleted it now, you beat me to it).

HMV's problem is the same one it had before, the entertainment it sells we don't consume in the same way any more.

Have to say that when in a shopping mall I do head to HMV, better than following the wife into female underwear/ lingerie shops. Why do men go straight to the item in a shop they want to buy, and a woman goes round and round and round, drives me nuts

But top prices of latest DVD's put me off in HMV, and the fancy headphones and other electronic paraphanalia that can be bought, was targeted for rich kids.

Never had any sales or deals that i could see. So i just used it to spot anything I would want to buy, and then bought cheaper on-line.

Not been in HMV for several years... our Christmas shop was done online, and a morning visiting a Christmas market.

They never bothered to change their model, so the market (as always) decides...

What did they think the economy, technology or High St would change that would suddenly make a broken shop work again?? As far as I can see nothing at HMV changed to improve or change matters.

I hope this means their Blu-ray exclusives are actually available elsewhere now. :(

Exclusive content or steelbooks, or both? Out of curiosity I had a look at my last few HMV purchases, and they were all "limited Edition" steelbooks (online obviously, haven't been in the store for years). The other place I've bought steelbooks from has been Zavvi, so I guess they'll have the monopoly now, unless Amazon want to do them.

I think there is a whole range that only HMV sold, pretty sure that was the only place I could get Gremlins 2 from.
