PM approves of police tactic of ramming moped-riding criminals off their bikes
And I agree wholheartedly with her. It might be a little extreme, but the police have been labelled with being soft for ages now in what they can and can't do with regards to apprehending criminals, and these moped-riding little s***s know this, which is why they've become so prolific, believing themselves to be untouchable.
Apparently there has been 3 recorded cases of broken bones. Well my heart bleeds, it really does. If you want to stay in one piece, DON'T BREAK THE f***ING LAW

Still want an answer to the question who's liable for the damage to the, presumably stolen, moped.
The owner. Stolen but deliberately damaged by police.
The police. Damaged in pursuance of a criminal.
Or just tough, sh*t happens.

If the bikes are stolen, then presumably the insurance has already paid out. If it's their own bikes then yeah, s*** happens.
For years the police have been criticised for being too soft. Now they've taken the gloves off they're still being criticised.

Usually nicked and used straight away so the loss may not have been reported.
Insurers being what they are they may argue recovery was possible fully intact until it was deliberately wrecked by the police.

Unlikely. These days it's cheaper just to write off and replace. My missus was shunted from behind a couple of years ago, causing about £150 worth of damage. the insurers decided it wasn't worth the work so wrote it off and game us the insured value (no excess, which was handy)
Either way, the point is moped crime has dropped dramatically because of the new tactics, because the little goits have realised they aren't immune. There was the belief that the cops wouldn't possibly ram them off the bikes because of the possible damage/injury that may be caused. Now they know that isn't the case. It might not steer them away from a life of misdeeds completely, but at least it might inject a little doubt into their feeble minds if they're going to get away with it or not

Don't know how long the 'don't pursue' was the case as about 4 years back I witnessed a patrol car chase a guy on a push bike and run him into a corrugated iron fence.
