Tory twitter army turns on it's own leader

Kind of funny...

Quote:
As Labour was thrown into crisis over allegations of anti-Semitism this summer, the Conservatives saw an opportunity to score some rare hits against their political rivals on social media.

Tory headquarters used a private Twitter group called “Tory 1st Battalion” to circulate articles attacking Jeremy Corbyn to dozens of their most active online supporters, in an attempt to replicate the network of “outriders” that have been central to the Labour leader’s popularity on social media, according to messages shared with BuzzFeed News and several people with access to the group.

Basically the thing Momentum have got very good at. The problem is, whilst Labour might be divided between Corbynisters and Blairites, Momentum is all for Corbyn.

Quote:
That so many activists who had energetically promoted the prime minister and her policies turned so abruptly against her illustrates just how deep the opposition to her Chequers plan is among the Tory rank-and-file. For them, the desire for a full withdrawal from the European Union overrides even their loyalty to their leader.

Not so blindly loyal as the Momentumites.

Depends who for, probably not for Theresa May, time will tell if it is or not for the Tory party. Generally a party in disarray hurts itself in the polls.

As much as I despised Thatcher, and the harm she did this country, at least she was forthright and direct. May just comes across as a substitute teacher with delusions of grandeur.

Time to dig out the 'tortoise on a post' analogy

And yet, at this point in time, despite applying to both main parties they are virtually level in the polls.

May could have easily avoided this situation by seeing through the Brexit she promised to rather than continually watering it down to come up with the Chequers compromise that still pleases neither those who voted Remian nor those who voted Leave.

Hardly surprising. Both the Labour Party and the Conservative Party are utter disaster zones right now. Naturally they'll be neck and neck in the race to the bottom.

I'm waiting for a Black Mirror episode where the population has become so disenchanted with the parties that there is only one person left who actually can bring themselves to vote, and gets wine and dined by them to death...

Oh dear it gets worse...

The UK Conservative Party's annual conference is about to kick off in Birmingham, and the Tories have distributed an app ahead of time to all attendees: senior ministers, government officials, members of the press, party members, and others.

The app has a fatal design-flaw: anyone could login as any attendee, provided that you knew that person's email address. As Guardian columnist and Jacobin writer Dawn Foster explained in a tweet, you could effect this login "just with their email address, no emailed security links, and post comments as them."

Once logged in, you could see the user's private mobile phone number, change that person's profile, and, as noted, post comments under their name (the app has been updated to close the vulnerability).

...and this is the party/government that is going to solve the N.Ireland border problem with technology.

Have a listen to Stephen Nolan ripping Ben Bradley apart on that very subject.
Starts at 10 mins in.
