I didn't know that halogen light bulbs had been banned!

Jitendar Canth (Reviewer) posted this on Sunday, 9th September 2018, 12:26

Since this month, the import and manufacture of halogen bulbs has been banned in the EU.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/aug/23/europe-to-ban-halogen-lightbulbsThat's just the bulbs, mind, the capsules used in spotlights, and speciality bulbs for ovens and the like will still be available, but we're slowly running out of lighting options. Just Fluorescent, LED and candles left now.

Not sure what the one at the end of the tunnel was but it appears to have gone out now.

A lot of energy saving lights are not the power out that are stated on the box. it is a pure con to save money due to cheaper construction techniques. You need to know true power out.

One of the worst cuprits is LED External flood lights, due to the heat given off  from the ballast, so lower wattage ballasts are installed to save money, by one having a cheaper ballast and two the heat sink (the metal frame) can be made with less material.

Also the lack of earth continuity in this specific light, is rather worrying, making it less safe.

Exactly, it's that price for a reason. Quality electrical components hit bottom years ago, the only way they can get things out at prices like these is to use poor quality components, dangerous or poor designs, or all usually three!

Also... Big Clive! I used to watch a lot of his stuff. Don't plug in anything from cheap pound stores into the mains, this is what Big Clive taught me.
