Commonwealth Citizen? UK Resident? Time to bugger off!

Jitendar Canth (Reviewer) posted this on Wednesday, 11th April 2018, 16:59

It's time to kick all of those foreign grandparents and parents out, those who came to live and work in the UK back in the fifties and sixties. Seventy and eighty year olds who never got the right documentation are being rounded up for deportation.

News item here.I'm glad I convinced my parents to become UK Citizens ten or so years ago.

They're coming for you Bandi!

Ha ha, I became a British citizen when I married a Scot and had four children here, but we all are duel citizen with Australia. Not so easy to do nowadays.

I notice in the above link...
"However the Home Office did not keep a record of those granted leave to remain or issue any paperwork confirming it, meaning it is difficult for the individuals to now prove they are in the UK legally".

Just like myself, there should be an easy historical papertrail for these individuals, with Marriage, birth, death certificates, social security number, etc, if they have been in this country for so long.

To be fair, they should give them all the benefit of the doubt and grant them citizenship now...I'd be tempted to say that where someone had only been given temporary permission to remain that long ago unless the Home Office could prove they tried to contact the person and said person had actually tried to avoid deportation...

The nation is a Heinz 57... if we were to evict all those with decendants from overseas, i reckon there would be less that half a dozen people left!

I think way back we shoved all the original inhabitants across into Wales and Cornwall.
So should we all bugger off and give it back to Plaid Cymru and the Cornish Nationalists?
