Yeah, just in case I reckon we should let them get away with it - and the other 14 likely murdered Russian and Russian linked individuals that have died in the last year in the UK.

The Russians always rely on us not doing anything and not being able to prove anything conclusively. They will always dismiss any evidence.

Remember how they didn't help rig the US election? How they didn't contribute to that mainly Dutch MH17 passenger plane being shot down? How they didn't destroy that convoy of aid vehicles in Syria? Never them, always deny. Prove it!

Edit: The Ukranian military pilot Russians claimed shot down flight MH17 has reportedly just "committed suicide".

Your right there. We are only a small country, we are no longer the Great British Empire, and have had to rely on the shield of NATO over the past decades of the cold war, to survive with MAD, Mutual assured destruction. Not a good policy but kept us reasonably safe from another European war or WW3.

Do we want to return to these cold war times?, I do not think so, so lets hope this blows over fast, and we get back to normal diplomatic relations.

Our economy dwarfs Russia's - smaller than Italy's. They just choose to spunk so much on what they do have on armaments and trying to f*** everyone else over (while a good proportion of their population are dirt poor).

Letting ourselves get pushed around by a nasty dictatorship just means they will keep pushing and pushing. Appeasement doesn't work. Obviously we need to be smart about this. It's unfortunate our govt. have looked so incompetent over the last couple of years - half the reason why Russia has tried to isolate us because they thought (wrongly) we wouldn't get support from Europe & US.

The obvious thing is to go after the Russian money, an awful lot of it is invested here. We don't have to threaten nuclear war but fiscal war might hit them where it hurts.

I meant also that we are a small country physically, and no where to go when the bombs drop.

We don't have to threaten nuclear war, but the Russians could, so all this brinkmanship just brings us more to the edge.

They should all just calm down on all sides.

But Russia aren't 'calming down'. They are attempting to murder people on British soil with internationally banned nerve agents. We have not threatened any military action and I doubt we would. I say again, do we keep appeasing them while they literally get away with murder?

Yes Russia is physically large but we shouldn't become too cowed, that's my point. We are not without power and influence (despite our best efforts to weaken our own position).

Just reading on news that Russia are playing the "you did the poisoning yourself" card. Hardly sounds like a contrite / de-escalating response? Absolutely their modus operandii of never accepting any blame and always trying to cry conspiracy and muddy the waters.

Now's the time to open up the coal mines that Thatch closed down, start producing coal gas like back in the sixties, extract the methane and dump it into the gas grid at a highly subsidised, 'undercut the Russians' price. It'll bankrupt us, but it'll learn 'em.
