my boiler stopped working last night :( probably just the condesnor pipe, but to thaw it I need to climb on the flat roof of the bathroom, as the boiler is upstairs, but the roof is v icey and slippery, so i thawed that a bit, but only got near to some of pipe, so I may have to let nature take it's course and hope the sun comes out and thaws it.

it rained a bit last night, but then must have snowed some more.

@Admars....One of the dissadvantages of a condensing boiler, running the drain external.

I just tee-ed mine into the washing machine and dish washer plastic drain pipe, so is all internal to the house, and the main drain then goes direct underground so cannot freeze up.

Hope you get up and running soon, especially in this weather.

PS...I and my neighbour got the same make condensating boilers installed by same company a few weeks apart, as he recommended them to me.

But he got a DC battery/inverter pack to 240V AC fitted below the boiler, so that if mains electricity fails, his boiler with have independent electricity to run for the gas boiler another 48 hours.

I do not have that, and asked the company, and they said they had changed specification and taken the battery/inverter out of the package, grrrh! So if I lose electric I lose gas central heating.

Thank god it's snowing again. Bit worried we didn't have enough...

Had freezing rain earlier, which made an icy crust on top of the snow so it's kind of like a snowy creme brulée.

that's what my garden was like this morning, I was worried the girls wouldn't get to play in it.

as it turns out they did, one lasted 20 mins, the other 25, apparently it was very cold, which they didn't like. Not quite the romantic image they knwo from the movies :(

and still no hot water, the pipe is all frozen which runs width of the bedroom, then down length of bathroom, before joining main drain. I started to thaw it, but t hen realised there may be little point if it freezes again this afternoon :(

it's supposed to rain, and warm up to 5 degrees today and tomorrow, yay!

Over night it was supposed to go from -1C to about 4-5C with rain, so expected to wake up to melted snow.

What I actually woke up to was -1C, the snow had started to melt then frozen again. Roads where sheet ice, from the pavement to the tarmac.

Yes, I fell on my bottom, but only once.

breaking news: my boiler now works :) Sorry about the smell (we have an aqualisa shower, which runs of the boiler rather than electric)

there's still a lot of snow outside, but i guess it's warmed up a bit. i may  have to do a shop walk later, when i popped out yesterday, no bread or milk in the shops! may be time to get out the bread maker which hasn't been used in years :)

Managed to get into work this morning after sending everyone home yesterday afternoon. Started coming down hard again and a lot of the guys live miles away so erred on the side of caution. Most of the main routes are clear but the side roads (like what I drive along most days) were still ice rinks. Should be interesting to see if we get any customers at all

Spoke too soon...

Since late yesterday evening it's been about 4-5C, so all melting, no more ice.

I'm glad we got snow, but I wish we'd had it without the blizzard wind! Was a nice excuse to take piccies though.
