I love the story of airships, and I have a feeling as fuel starts to run out or get too expensive for aircraft, these will make a return for long haul journeys, say to Australia. More modern versions of course travelling at faster speeds and holding up to a 1000 passengers at a time. I would love to travel in one.

The Hiddenberg is the most mysterious story of all, whether it was a bomb or just an accident via a spark. I suppose we will never know, but this did knock out the dangers of America getting bombed by these craft during World wars, especially when they were full of inflammable gasses.

Didn't the Hindenburg have a smoking deck?

Love to have seen one mooring at the Empire State building but I wouldn't have been so keen to alight from the ship down the steps.

What about an inflatable slide like they use when they have an unsafe landing? :)

I'm sure I read someone somewhere is trying to bring these back in some form, seeing them moored against a tall building would be very cool.

The British R101 had a smoking room that was well insulated from chance of a spark. Bit dicey if you ask me :D
