People who exercise with fitness trackers have a digital record of their workouts. They do it for a wide range of reasons, from gathering serious medical data to simply satisfying curiosity. When fitness data includes GPS coordinates, it raises personal privacy concerns. But even with individual data removed, such data was still informative enough to spill the beans on secretive facilities around the world.

been telling people for years that they give away too much information about themselves...
ie... ooh Mr FaceAche, or Tw4tter... look at my lovely house, and all my expensive things... oh yes i am now at the airport and going away for two weeks... or follow me on Strava (start point my front door, finish at my door) or look i always go out for run cycle ride every saturday at 10am for two hours
Now come and burgle my house!

Not only ther internet gives away your position, but also smart meters.
If anyone ever got hold of that data, where energy consumption is given in real time, scrupulous people could interpret the data and know when you are not consuming energy, and most likely out of the house.
Luckly in the UK by law, we can refuse smart meters, which I have, not just for big brother watching, but also the EMF fields given of by the meter itself, which has been stated on many websites as a danger to health.
The only way an energy supplier can demand that a smart meter be fitted in your house, is if your existing meter is too old, but even then you can tell them to set on DUMB mode, where it does not transmit, and still requires physical meter readings, either by meter man or sent on-line by email to the supplier.
