I never thought I'd say this, but I miss Tom Wheeler.

Ajit Pai is a disaster. Hopefully Netflix can do some extreme lobbying in the next fortnight.

The comparisons with China are not really accurate, probably better comparing it with the dystopian capitalist future in films like Rollerball. :)

Senate votes to overturn Ajit Pai’s net neutrality repeal

Quote:
The US Senate today voted to reverse the Federal Communications Commission's repeal of net neutrality rules, with all members of the Democratic caucus and three Republicans voting in favor of net neutrality.

I guess Comcast didn't pay off enough politicians this time.

Quite surprised they managed to do it, considering the lobbying in the US.

Congratulations America!

Quote:
While Democratic lawmakers pushed the net neutrality bill through the Senate, Republicans have a 236-193 majority in the House and may be able to kill the effort to preserve net neutrality. Democrats need a majority of representatives to sign a discharge petition in order to force a House vote.
