Don't even need to watch this to almost guarantee I agree with every word...

...on the other hand, what difference will this make when the Conservative lead is sadly but inevitably increasing again?

As usual, depends on where you get your polling data from...

It's 135 consecutive poll leads, whichever way you look at it...

I would be happy if pressure was put on the Conservatives, but I just can't see anything from Labour that's going to work and you can just discount all the other parties as irrelevant...

That's why the poll of polls is the best guide, it reduces most of the bias and the outliers.

Maybe, but still a huge gap however you look at it.

Labour should be miles in the lead at this point, nothing they try and throw at this government is sticking...at all...

Take this morning and a dig at the governments recovery plan for education the day after everyone was lauding another increase in A-Level results after a full educational year in lockdown and schooling mainly from home.

It's obviously more nuanced than that, but the criticisms don't land because the two messages are obviously at odds with one another.  And as is Labour's way, they reckon they have a plan but as usual don't elaborate on what it is.

I have zero faith in HM Opposition to hold this government to account properly.

Brexit screwed Labour, any attack on anything going wrong would be seen as an attack on Brexit itself, and lose them votes. Combined with the far left of the party hating Starmer, it's a long way back from that.

Also recent YouGov poll has Tory voters caring most about immigration. Which says a lot that's wrong with the world right now.

People dying, worldwide pandemic, NHS is in crisis, education is in crisis, and most pressing of all global warming is past the point where it's going to be bad and we need to do major things just to stop it being really really bad... but you know immigrants in boats is the most important thing right now.

I think Labour are just playing the long game, as long as the gap is coming down slowly, Boris is unlikely to call an election because he will lose a few seats, he has nothing to gain right now and they have the time to not take risks with the electorate.

With respect, that's because you have a Remainer view of the view of immigration.  You think everyone thinks immigration is a bad thing and we want to send everyone home.

The prevailing view of immigration is that legal, rather than illegal immigration, needs to be managed.  That's because there is a belief that without housing, services and infrastructure to support it then mass immigration will just lead to increased pressures on housing, the NHS, etc.

There are people who almost certainly think how you think they do, but they are not the prevailing Leave view.

Illegal immigration is just that.  It's against the law and therefore if you have a problem with that, lobby to get the law changed - although that is a slap in the face for those who try to come here legally.

If we had a lot of affordable housing that would enable youngsters and others to get on the housing ladder or into social housing, then I think you'd see attitudes softening - especially if that came with an increase and ease in GP/hospital appts, school places, etc.

But most of that is ignored and written off as xenophobic...

You are missing my point completely, and illustrating it in the process. The top three things going on in the world right now, and Tory voters are ranking immigration as the most important, that's my point.

The irony being, climate change is going to make immigration even more of an issue so by not making that THE most important thing to worry about right now, you are going to make the thing Tory voters care about most even more of a problem. But it's not even top 3 for Toy voters, which is a part of why we are in this mess in the first place.

OK, I'll bite.

The government has stated a net zero target, which I believe is completely unachievable, but what practical steps can we take in your opinion to resolve the climate crisis?

It's completely unachievable without some really rich people becoming less rich. It's also completely unachievable unless the government fully commits to it instead of paying lip service so voters like you think that's enough or we are doing our best.

There is more than enough energy in wind power, tidal energy and other environmentally friendly sources to easily power the entire UK, along with nuclear power, if we put the money behind it.

As for completely unachievable, we are making a choice, either we do it, or we are completely f***ed. We are already f***ed, this is just about how much more f***ed we are going to be.
