RE: [VIDEO] Brexit

i think that's probably something to with the EU bods re-iterating the same thing they've been saying since the first time May handed in her attempt at a withdrawl agreement. And they've re-iterated that point quite strongly mainly because it's written into Article 50 that the EU gets the final say in all of this, the same Article 50 we willingly instigated way back when.

Boris can get as many headlines as he wants in the right-wing rags, with quotes like 'The EU MUST listen to us now', when they really, really don't have to, and never have.

Looks like energy independence after Brexit is bust. Turns out that they've overestimated Shale gas reserves by 500%

Of course the frackers are dismissing the report...

Isn't this all rather irrelevant seeing as fracking is opposed by anyone interested in Green issues?

We'll still have to buy from Norway and Russia, but as the ONS report from 2016 states:

All EU countries now import more energy than they export

All EU countries imported more energy than they exported in 2014. In terms of rankings, of the 28 EU countries the UK was the 12th most dependent on foreign sources of energy; less reliant than Germany and Italy but more reliant than Sweden and the Netherlands.

Furthermore, in 2014 the UK’s import dependency was below the EU average and the UK was the least dependent on foreign sources of energy out of the five EU countries who consumed the largest amounts of energy overall (namely Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK).

However, even though the UK's reliance on imported energy is still below its EU neighbours, the UK is now more in line with them than it has been in recent history.

Since 1998 the UK has gone from being a net exporter to a net importer of energy while Germany, Spain, France and Italy have all consistently imported more energy than they exported.

I doubt things have improved at all since then...

I do not know how they managed to resume fracking after getting mini - quake in the midlands which shut them down temporary. It should be shut down for good.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-49356631

Fracking has already been proven to be dangerous in the USA, where it has been going on for years,  with creation of mini-quakes, leakage into water table, affecting drinking water, contamination of dangerous chemicals and fumes on the surface.

No one knows, especially the people in charge of making it happen. Basically, when it comes to Trump and Brexit, the US and the UK are having a big game of hold my beer.
