You may need a sarcasm emoji Rob.

What's also funny about the tiny fishing industry we have in this country is that the vast majority of the fish is sold to... have a guess...

(I'll finish your sentence) "...which last year paid around £72bn into the exchequer through taxes, or 10% of the UK's entire tax take."

The fat cats in the financial industry also include, btw, former broker Nigel Farridge, insurance broker Comrade Arron Banks and brexit ultras John Redwoodn't and man-of-the-people Jacob Rees-Biscuit (who have set up offices in EU and advised investors to avoid UK markets because of negative affects of brexit).

The trouble with this "burn the whole house down" attitude is that we all get burned to death.

I can follow logical arguments about what might practically happen, although we'll never actually know until it happens regardless of how certain everyone thinks it will be...

...but what I can't swallow is s*** like this:

Ignore it, Si. I’ve come to the conclusion that minority groups, far right and far left have been allowed to dictate the terms of political debate for far too long now, and all it does is infuriate the moderate majority. Just because someone with an axe to grind and a platform on which to grind it makes a deliberately vile and offensive noise, doesn’t mean that opinion is acceptable or more importantly accepted.

That's very true, sadly social media mean this things take on a life of their own, but maybe that's exactly why they're written in the first place.

I came off Twitter earlier this year and don't regret, I'd come off FB if it wasn't useful for keeping touch with old friends, squaddies and family...

I had just finished a run last night (it was dark, about 10pm) and I saw this guy rip off one of those large lampost poppies, I told him that was very mean spirited, I didn't see his face but I know who it is because I see them most days whilst walking the dog, so the outline was very familiar, he said nothing.

Buy a poppy, don't buy one, buy a white one, wear one, don't wear one, fine. Treating it as anything but a symbol for remembering people who gave their lives, I just don't get either.

I was heavily against the Iraq war, Tony Blair disgusts me, but the soldiers that went there to fight don't get to choose their battles.

Agreed, I served in the first Gulf War and just happened to think it was a just war, despite the underlying geopolitical issues.

I never agreed with any of the others, but we sign on the dotted line and go wherever the Government of the day decides to send us and do our best to do what is asked of us...

A bad deal's better than no deal

You know what's better than a bad deal? A good deal.

...and to everyone sick of brexit this is only the withdrawal agreement!

Trade negotiations will take years after this, with Europe screwing us down as hard as possible, and the rest of the world knowing how weakened we are through desperation.

Interesting little story about how a country can be screwed by powerful countries when in a submissive deal (i.e. the US v Samoa/Tonga). The strange case of the turkey tails and the mutton flaps
