You may or may not like James O'Brien on LBC but he's just listening on this one

Whether you're leave or remain this is worth a read

Quote:
Worse: here’s how the shameless Brexit Bunch plan to survive the mess they have created – by going overseas. John Redwood has recommended investors consider opportunities abroad. The Living Fossil Rees-Mogg is part of a financial operation expanding in EU-affirming Ireland. Lord Lawson, when not offering his expert opinions on climate change, premenstrual tension, or whatever else he claims to know about, is seeking French residency. Nigel Farage has been looking for German passports for his family. And Lord Ashcroft recommends that investors consider opportunities in Malta. How many of the 17 million Brexit voters have the same opportunities?

I struggle to get any enjoyment from those sort of clips, because it doesn't change anything. :/

Opinion is coming round to a second vote but we will probably need an election to get it.

It just seems crazy that anyone would want to stick to this insane path of serious self-harm. Only the very rich, the very poor won't feel the effects of brexit. But we are dealing with human emotion here, and people are not rational.

Research shows that the more you present evidence to disprove a position, the more people double-down on their viewpoint - look at climate change deniers, anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theorists; they cannot be convinced. You aren't going to change belligerent minds until it's actually hitting them hard, long after it's too late to change.

However, a lot of 'moderate' leave voters are changing their minds. New polls show the number of remain constituencies now outnumber leave ones.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-latest-polling-leave-remain-voters-westminster-constituencies-final-say-second-referendum-a8488001.html

And it appears that many Labour leave voters in the North and Wales have switched to remain - although Labour already had a 70% pro-remain vote (which makes their continued pro-leave position particularly bizarre). The pressure on Labour in particular to support a final say on the deal grows.

Not really, given that Corbyn has been anti-EEC since the 1970s.

Yes, he and many of his old-era socialist pals think that the EU is incompatible with turning the UK into a marxist utopia. But he himself specifically said that the Labour party would be run according to the wishes of the Labour membership which happen to overwhelmingly support remaining in the EU. Even Momentum support a people's vote. That's a very big deal.

Humans are very bad at admitting when they are wrong. Think of any mentalism act where someone is asked to pick a thing, and then given plenty of options to change their mind, and they never change their mind.

A new referendum would be that.

To be fair, the original referendum was that as well...
