Some MPs have returned to parliament already, even though there's nothing to do.

Just like any other weekday then.

Now this is funny:

Quote:
A senior Conservative source said Mr Farage was "not a fit and proper person" and "should never be allowed anywhere near government".

Probably the only time in recent memory I've been complete & total agreement with the Tories

Farage has responded by saying he doesn't want a job in government. That's not what they said, they said he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near government, and that's the crucial difference.

Yup, 'it's all good' lying to the queen and illegally shutting down Parliament for five weeks at time of national crisis. There can be no limit to how low this man and his mates will stoop to evade being challenged and questioned.

Sorry Ste, that's Scottish law. It's ok to do that under English law.

We'll see what the Supreme Court thinks, but in the meantime:

Of course, it's just an opinion and so the judgement next week is the one to wait for...

I think what the courts say are almost not the point.
It is really that they have knowingly deceived and downplayed the impact of the report and its creation date.
And then closed down Parliament so there is little that can be done about any of it.

There is a lot of deviousness going on with both sides. And we ain't seen the last of it, till Brexit is resolved.

And talking about deviousness, I see the speaker of the house decided to go, before he was booted out.

Only because the Conservatives are so sick of him that they decided to stand a candidate against him - even though he's nominally at least supposed to be a Conservative...

Smart move by Bercow: he's pretty much done the job he's set out to do, which was keep power in elected parliament rather than allow minority govt. hijack control. He would almost certainly be removed next term (assuming a tory victory) so he has stood down now meaning that current parliament get to elect new speaker, quite possibly Harriet Harman. Tories can't do a Trump and elect their own stooge (again assuming they have a healthy majority after an election).

Seems a lot of criticism that was levelled at Bercow centred around him reining in the Tories when they were going beyond the boundaries of what's actually allowed. But by doing his job & adhering to the the written letter of parliamentary procedure, he was seen as biased & anti-Brexit, which adds transparency to how shady & underhand the no-deal-desperate bunch have been acting.
