Renting Somewhere

Good evening chaps and chapesses

I've not posted for a bit - but still do check back from time to time.
I wanted to hear your thoughts on something, as I usually do!

My six month stay with my uncle has slowly turned in to twenty months and it's time to move out!
So I have been looking for properties near where I work, whilst the rent is kind of what I expected for Berkshire, it's the fees!! The fees!!
So the three main letting agents that between them have about 90% of the suitable properties around here all charge between £500 and £800 for admin costs. Yes, you read that right. Just. For. Admin.

Searched high and low for landlord run properties on Gumtree, Onerent etc but none around here.

I spoke to one agency the other day and said I couldn't rent with them diw to their massive fees. They didn't flinch. Not bothered!

So has any one else rented recently and what did you pay?

I wish the government would hurry up and pass this bill where they are stopping letting agents charging extra fees. But that could be October or November.

I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i`m dying are the best i`ve ever had.

Sorry I can't help you I am in USA,but just read your dilemma and it's sad how things are . , not just in England but even inUSA. Well years ago when I was single and searching for a flat in Queens New York , the superintendent of the building would have the nerve to charge me One hundred dollars just to show me a flat , no guarantee you'll get the flat. And that was over 35 yrs ago.I wonder what they charge now.😳
