Well, Trump will be out of office by then, so the driving force won't be appeasing the psychopath in chief but defining the GOP in his wake. Do they reclaim the Repugnican movement or do they turn full on American Nazi? That will define what they do in the trial. On the news last night they were already hinting that Turtlehead McConnell might be ready to throw the big orange one under the bus.

He is impeached, for a second time. Even though the Senate didn't convict last time, he's still impeached, just as Clinton was for far less, yet he still finished his Presidency.

Also, 60 Capitol police officers are on suspension or under investigation for assisting the rioters in gaining access to the capitol building.

Finally for this post, here's a level-headed reaction with regards to the question 'did Trump incite the mob to attack the capitol?" from someone actually qualified to answer the question.

A dangerous assumption.
If he manages to start his own TV channel and other media outlets he may be more dangerous outside the tent pi**ing in.
Biden only has two years before the next elections to heal the country and win or quieten enough republicans to finish out his presidency. Which, given his age will probably only be a term stint.

I don't expect them to get punished for all the corruption, but at least someone is trying now, and at least we don't have another 4 more years of their corruption.

FBI Special Agent Matthew Foulger said in an affidavit supporting the criminal complaint that a series of statements Sullivan made on video encouraged the lawbreaking.

Foulger said that as the crowd rushed the Capitol building, Sullivan declared: “We accomplished this s***. We did this together. f*** yeah! We are all a part of this history,” and “Let’s burn this s*** down.”

The complaint alleges that as rioters sought to break the glass in a set of doors in the Capitol, Sullivan rushed forward and said he could help. “Hey guys, I have a knife. I have a knife. Let me up,” the activist allegedly said.

The FBI appeared to dispute Sullivan’s claim that he was a reporter. Foulger told the court that Sullivan “admitted … that he has no press credentials.”
