I think this is interesting in how it might well influence how things work out one way or the other...

Easy to forget there are decent people who voted Trump last time.

Will this have an impact?  After all, "it's the economy, stupid".

Unless this is massively fake news, not sure anyone could not give Trump credit for that...

If you really wanna see the effects on popularity, this is the best poll (of polls) to follow:

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/national/

(At time of writing: Biden 52%, Trump 43%)

''Fastest economic growth in US history''. Yes, after fastest contraction in US history. Extremely misleading (and that's being generous).

Let's do a little calculation...

If an economy is worth 100 units and drops by 31%, it is now worth 69 units. If it grows by 33% that is 69 x 1.33 = 91.77. That's still over 8% down on previous worth. In American economy terms, that's still a huge loss.

that's "normal" though isn't it. the people who have money, aren't investing it, or saving it, as there's point at the moment, but you buy things that are going to increase value of your house, boat, property you rent out etc.I know someone who works in air conditioning for boats, he has said that they never get hit by recessions, as ppl who have money invest it in their boats if interest rates are low as there is no point saving it!

I bought a new washing machine recently, nothing to do with Trump, or Johnson, the old one broke, I needed a new one, so bought one.

Some ppl have a lot more disposable income at the moment, where they can't go out at the moment, a friend's son pre-ordered new playstation and xbox, as he lives at home, has a job, but hasn't been p***ing his cash up against a wall every Friday and Saturday, and it was burning a hole in his pocket!

I get the maths, but are you really saying it was going to automatically bounce back and therefore nothing to do with Trump at all?  Just curious...

The polls clearly show him winning, not personally convinced that is true as I suspect there are a lot of silent Trump voters out there same as we saw here in December.

If Biden wins though, fair enough, the world will still turn.

I'm going to be fascinated at the distribution of early votes and first time voters as the turnout seems to be heading for near record levels.

Agree, I've just seen the following re. Texas (which I can't imagine going to Biden, although stranger things have happened):

We'll know in a week... probably.

But yes it's just basic maths, if you have a big drop in GDP because of a pandemic lockdown, the next quarter when people start spending you get a big increase, there isn't much for anyone to take credit for.

Also, most of this GDP has benefited the rich, not the poor. It's kind of like cheering about how great the stock market is doing, most of us don't benefit from that.

I can't find the link but the Supreme Court just came out in favour of some late postal ballots I think, as long as they were posted before election day.

To me, that's a no-brainer.  That was always one of the dangers of moving to postal voting and voter disenfranchisement.
