Legal status of AI & Robots

BBC news.....MEPs to vote on a set of rules on human interaction with AI and robots.

It will be decided whether to give robots legal status as electronic persons.

Also to be discused that physical robots to have a kill switch to shut down said robot. Maybe in case of Skynet, hmmh!

I personally think there should be an easy way to get to a Hunan operator on an AI controlled call centre, as forever going round in loops to get there :D

My biggest worry is that AI poses one of main ways to human oblivion, other than nuclear or biological warfare.

If you look at science fiction where a lot becomes science fact a few decades on, Robots get a lot of bad press where they try to wipe out humanity, and maybe it is well justified, and a warning.

As for the kill switch that MEP's are going to demand, let's hope we can reach it first, before the robot hits ours :D

I'm reminded of a comment from someone involved in the industry that the problem is not artificial intelligence but real ignorance.

Far from being scared of it I think it may well be the next step in human evolution as humans and AI merge.

Well, with all technology, it can be used for good and evil.

Usually humans either unwhittingly or whittingly use technology for evil, smart AI would be making that decision for itself.
