I detested the rubic cube, used to always get one at Christmas and by New Year it was chucked in the bin.

I only solved it one year, by getting white paint out and painting all sides

I recently bought a Speed Cube, which is basically a Rubiks Cube that you can turn more than one side per minute without it falling into pieces.

I can now solve it way quicker than before, only takes me 20 minutes or so now I don't have to stop to keep picking up pieces and putting it back together.

I self-taught myself how to solve the cube from a couple of youtube videos about 2 years ago. Now my fastest time is about 2m17s (layer method). I could probably get it done quicker if my cube wasn't getting on a bit.

The first cube I had, I solved by peeling off the colour stickers and reattaching them. They tended to peel off at random after that.

Then I learned not to cheat like that. The next cube I had, I learned to solve it with a screwdriver.

Not seen the Speed Cube but I found it so worth it to pay and get the real thing and not the cheap imitations. Once loosened up a bit there was no comparison.
On a good run and with a few things falling into place I can do it in about a minute. Generally about 1:30 ish.

1:30 is amazing! Maybe over xmas I'll try to see how quickly I can actually do it, maybe I can get under 10 minutes.
