there's been a lot of this in USA recently hasn't there, after Kaepernick sat for the national anthem and the recent South Park covers it very well. It's interesting/wierd/shocking how opinion is so divided among the public, and among ex and serving military, some saying "we fight for freedom of speach, if he wants to sit it's fine", others the complete opposite saying "you should stand out of respect for those that risk(ed) their lives".
I remember beeing on holiday in USA, I can't remember what where or why the national anthem was played, everyone stood up, hand on heart, except my mum, I felt awkward sitting so I stood.
I suppose some of our politicians and footballers get some stick about not singing our national anthem but we don't seem to get as upset as some Americans.

Some aspects of our media tried very hard to get upset at Corbyn not singing it! But yeah generally national pride in the UK falls into two categories, a celebration of our sports stars and xenophobia/racism.
It's maybe too easy to just say Americans are generally stupid and why they are so easily manipulated into believing a flag or an anthem is more important than anything else, especially when we've had Nigel Farrage getting an awful lot of people to believe the total lies he's spouted.
Perhaps it's just what happens when your general populous isn't self deprecating like ours is, they take themselves too seriously. Or perhaps we have the BBC (and ITV with Spitting Image) with it's consistent output of satirical comedy ridiculing our politicians so relentlessly.

There's an image that was shared by a facebook friend a few days ago, and I'll be buggered if I can find it now, but it was essentially the tect of a stand-up comedian's comments regarding this matter, the crux of which was that there are those who feel that ever American should be FORCED to pledge alleigance to the American Flag, and the obvoius comparisons to Nazi Germany and Fascism in general.
It never fails to astound me that throughout my formative years, everything i knew about the Americans was that they hated the commies and everything they thought they stood for, but looking at what's coming out of America now, it seems that a large majority would welcome total dictatorship with open arms.

I think there's a couple of reasons why the Yanks are so sensitive about flag and anthem.
One is that they're a relatively young country.
That is young in terms of when a bunch of religious nuts landed and claimed the place as their own.
And there's the second reason right there.

what's interesting is at Nike, their must have been a meeting , where they discussed the possibel backlash, how many ppl would hate them and stop buying their products, and also how many people who support them, and how this would be positive free advertising. someone is much better at Excel than me, and probably much richer.

RIP #Nike. Due to the upcoming conservative protests, you'll end up in the dustbin of history just like:
-Walmart
-Starbucks
-Dick's Sporting Goods
-Kellogg's
-Netflix
-Keurig
-Amazon
-Star Wars Films
-Merryl Streep
-Michelle Wolf
-The Black Panther Franchise
-Hamilton
When you get a large worldwide company like Nike prepared to start a campaign which they know will, at the very least, p*ss off the President and the alt-right base he relies on then it heralds the end.
As admars says they certainly have some wizards in Excel and way more sophisticated programs and they will have calculated this down to the last buck.
I'm more than happy the new 2 week old trainers are Nike bought before the campaign was announced.
