Maybe a reason to get/want a 3D printer

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Looks like 2 seconds of fun and then 5 minutes of reloading. :/

I didn't realise they were so affordabel now...

Anet A8 Desktop 3D Printer (EU Plug) for £91.69 using code @ Gearbest

I posted to the deal, rather than the shop as there's a few useful and interesting comments, and links to articles and other products, as well as the usual flippant remarks :)

Wow that is cheap, but probably very unreliable. :/

I love the idea of one, but they still seem to be so fiddly, and I'm not sure how often I'd use it. Also not sure where I'd put it!

You could make a shelf.

Strikes me as a married man's comment though.
Single/divorced friends I know would either shift some of the old takeaway boxes of a kitchen work surface. Or stick it in the front room so they could watch the footie whilst tinkering.

the reddit article is interesting

https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/5mkapm/dispelling_the_anet_a8_negativity_once_and_for/

it sounds great IF you're an enthusiast, want to do some tinkering, have your own workshop, the time and money, but not if you want plug and play and for it to work in the same way as a £30 HP printer from pcworld.

What I really want is a PCB printer which also drills holes. ;)

I've never had any interest in 3D printers but after 15+ hours of watching BrailleSkateboarding I now want a Skateboard.
