Bloody hell you did well for a 1st shift, although 9am till 2 is a strange one? normally 7-3 and 3-11? is it a large hotel? which operating system do you use? :)....its a great job, i always tell the young ones here (and teach them a little when i can) that they should learn a couple of systems and do agency work for a season while they are young and see the country, this is one of the few countries that hospitality is not really seen as a career more of a last resort, short term or entry level position.

Have a look at the website. It is quite small - 24 rooms, with an 18 hole golf course, deluxe spa, gym, fishing lakes all there as well.
The reception is manned about 12 hours a day - 9am to 9pm (sometimes they start earlier and finish later to suit requirements) so they split the days up to suit the three people sharing the responsibility, of which I am now one. I should be doing a steady 30-40 hours a week once I'm trained up and left on my own, but it is flexible, so when they are quite, I may drop down to less than 20 hours a week. There is a night porter to handle stuff out of hours.
very nice hotel, super impressed you were confident enough to do so much on your own first shift, which operating system do you use? Opera or Rezlynx? or do they have their own that incorporates golf bookings also?

Another point of interest - my bosses, the Hotel owners are Phil and Pierre Edmonds - twin brothers. Phil used to play cricket for England. The whole hotel is full of cricket memorabilia, autographed etc. It's a fascinating place!
How is the job going Sue? I suspect you are very busy!
We miss you. xx :)

It's going really well. We've been short staffed so I've been doing 40+ hours a week since New Year, and getting very knackered. However, my boss has listened to me, and has now cut my hours back to give me a rest.
I've just joined the Gym and Health Club that they have at the hotel. I'm going to have an induction next Thursday, and then I'll be in there regularly working out and toning up.
Sorry I've neglected the forum. I haven't been on Facebook much either. Hopefully if my working hours drop now, I'll have more time again.
I'm still here and still very healthy though.

Just to let you know that I saw my Surgeon again today for the first time since he cut my breast off last May. He was very pleased with me, and gave me a physical examination, after which he declared me fit and healthy.
We discussed a risk reducing mastectomy on my healthy breast, which I decided not to have, as it would not really make any difference to my odds of getting cancer again.
He is going to refer me to a plastic surgeon at East Grinstead now though, ready to go ahead with my "tummy tuck and boob job" in the summer.
Even though it'll never actually feel the same again, it will be nice to get a normal shaped body again. Should be back to normal (ish) by the end of the year.
Is it wrong that I am feeling excited by the thought of having a new nipple tattooed onto my new breast in a couple of years time as the finishing touch, or the cherry on the cake, if you like. It's a long journey to get that far, but a journey that I'm ready to take.
Hope you're all keeping well. I'm feeling great, apart from the loss of Leonard Nimoy, which has upset me today.
