I think the only other celebrity death to upset me was John Peel :(

I think Rik Mayall affected a lot of people who grew up with Young Ones (although I would have been too young 1st time I think) New Statesment, Bottum etc :(

On the first Bottum live video, you can hear my sister in law laughing (she has a distinctive laugh)

My missus (at the time gf), my best mate and I went to see Guesthouse Paradiso at the cinema, walked back to hers afterwards,so we could watch the Dangerous Brothers video, however, gf/missus lived with her sis at the time, who had work the next day, so was in bed, so the 3 of us watched it, trying hard not to laugh too louldy etc, then towards the end, in walked her sister, she had been out that evening so we need have bothered stifling our laughter!

I'm sad, but at the same time I can't help smiling, as I keep remembering stuff like this

was sad news... I use to see him regularly in Dartmouth, always a gent, always acknowledged people who spoke to him... a great talent sadly lost!

Very sad to hear the terrible news of Riks` passing  a real and not imaginary loss to us all.
There are many "Celebrities" whose passing is front page news when they without meaning to be harsh  in all honesty are non-entities and they meant little .
However Rik  brought laughter and joy to tens of millions of people with his "Investigative reporter"

Utterly Utterly brilliant in EVERY WAY

RIP Rik

Gone but never forgotten

God bless him

Also totally gutted to hear this last week - loved everything he was in, saw Bottom live every time it was on and still have my 'who needs birds when you've got your mates' t shirt in the loft from the first tour.

No age and as already said, really makes you value your own mortality.

RIP Rik, gone but will never be forgotten.

I saw Bottom Live a few times and they often did these 'off script' moments (not for as long as this one though).
Superb stuff and Rik is sadly missed.
