[VIDEO] Sonic returns

I think one of the historical gaming franchises I got the least was Sonic, maybe one day I'll try to give it a proper go, but it just never clicked for me. But anyway, two new Sonic games coming next year, one a 3D based take and what looks like a 2D retro style remake with new levels...

Used to love playing this with the kids when they were young.

It had an epilepsy warning at the start, which was a good idea, as I found I ended up getting splitting headaches after one hour, with all those fast moving bright coloured graphics.

Only ever other game that did that if on too long, was Ratchet and clank, which again is fast moving action with bright colours.

I see that is also back with a new game on the PS4, but my days of computer games is over, now that the youngest who still lives at home with us is 19. Rest are all gone playing computer games with their kids.

Time moves on quicker than you think.

Originally I didn't "get" Sonic or Mario, I was used to platformers like Jet Set Willy, Dynamite Dan, Dan Dare etc on my Amstrad, so when I played these left to right scrolling linear platformers at my cousin's on his snes, megadrive etc, I was disapointed, as I was used to being able to get left, right, up and down.

Then I think one day, the penny dropped with Sonic, it wasn't just about getting to the end, there was the challenge of getting all the rings, fastest time etc

I remember quite enjoying the Dreamcast one at a mate's house.

Old computer games does cause one to reminisce....

My favorite game of all time was on a holiday to Jersey back in the 80's, and the pub next door to our hotel had a glass table top version of Asteroids, now that was a game and could sit there all day with a pint in hand playing it.

When I retire I intend to buy a table top version of that game, as my present to myself, and sit there with my amber nectar

Why limit yourself to Asteroids when you can play all of then? :) MAME cab!!!

The first Asteroids was apparently too easy, hence why they followed it up quickly with deluxe versions that were a lot harder.

Why limit myself, true enough.

I see that the newer versions of the glass table top arcade games allow you switch to other classic games as well, so that is what I will be buying.
