E3 2016

Gareth Williams (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 12th June 2016, 13:41

This year's expo kicks off this week. Titles rumoured to be announced this year include Wolfenstein 2, Evil Within 2, Prey 2, State of Decay 2 and Dead Rising 4. We'll also probably get the first looks at the next Assassin's Creed, among others. Bethesda are rumoured to be working on a new Quake, though I don't know if we'll see anything from that this year.

Here is the time table for press conferences with links to the relevant streams below, if anyone's interested:

Yeah, the old version being developed by Human Head was cancelled. This is supposedly a new attempt at a sequel by a different developer:

Quote:
Prey 2, meanwhile, is thought to be completely different to the Human Head-developed Prey 2 we previewed in 2011. It's believed to have been built anew by the relatively new Austin, Texas arm of Dishonored developer Arkane. Kotaku leaked internal emails about Prey 2 a few years ago. However, Bethesda said in 2014 that the game had been cancelled.

The Bethesda show is at 3am tonight so we'll know one way or the other by the morning.

EA is going to have to go some to earn my trust after the massive disappointment that was Battlefront.

As for Days Gone, does anyone else long for the days when not every game featured 'infected' as the antagonists? What's wrong with a post-apocalyptic game in which the enemies are regular humans?

Like The Division? Really liked the story mode single player and if the Dark Zone wasn't such PITA to go in to then I would play it a lot more. Not a fan of player vs trolls gameplay.

Not sure any have done the hordes of infected quite like Days Gone, although if you watch the video there are a few places where I expected him to be swarmed and they seemed to be scripted to stay back, such as when he goes inside and up the stairs, then stops to shoot down @ 4:10.  There are infected climbing over and would be at the bottom of the stairs, but they hold back.  I would rather have enemies who realistically go down after one shot to the body and make you move tactically and use obstacles to avoid being overwhelmed than have them held back to create false sense of danger.

if they're infected maybe you get round the possible "racism" problems games like Res Evil have run into? Also don't some countries (Germany and Australia spring to mind) have strict rules about violence in games, especially to humans, so make them infected and you get round the problem?
